Welcome to Flax Medical Centre

child_plasterThe practice provides health care for over 3200 patients. It is situated in the Flax Community Centre, Ardoyne Avenue, Belfast. The practice was established with medical services provided by Dr Tan initially, who was later joined by Dr McGirr.

Patients are welcome to register with the practice. Information about registration can be obtained from the reception team.

The practice has two male general practitioners Dr Michael Tan and Dr Paul McGirr, who are regularly supported by a female doctor. Please speak to the reception team if you are keen to be seen by a female doctor.

The premises are accessible by patients with disabilities and are suitable for wheelchair users.

FLU VACCINATIONS WILL START FROM 3RD OCTOBER 2011. WHEN YOU GET YOUR LETTER MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT DONE. ANY FEMALES CURRENTLY PREGNANT SHOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE FLU VACCINE WITH THE PRACTICE NURSE.


Please note due to new Laboratory requirements urine samples need to be taken at the surgery in a container provided at reception. Bottles can no longer be used. Please attend the surgery in person as a sample can only be sent if received as directed. If you have any difficulty with this please speak to the receptionist.  May 2011

THE PRACTICE IS CURRENTLY MONITORING MISSED APPOINTMENTS.  IF YOU HAVE AN APPOINTMENT AND CANNOT ATTEND.  PLEASE CONTACT RECEPTION AND CANCEL THIS. THIS MEANS THAT THE APPOINTMENT IS AVAILABLE FOR ANOTHER PATIENT TO USE.  THANK YOU. NOV 2011

PLEASE NOTE: EACH APPOINTMENT LASTS FOR 10 MINUTES AND IS FOR ONE PATIENT ONLY.  IF YOU REQUIRE MORE TIME WITH THE DOCTOR. PLEASE ASK THE RECEPTIONIST FOR A DOUBLE APPOINTMENT.
